Final Devil

The idea behind her design is that in videogames, there is almost always a dedicated healer. She is it.
However, in medieval setting games, usually its either a white mage or a priest that act as it. And since my story is a Monster World, I spun that usual design on its head : instead of a holy priest, we get a dark priest.
I also put her in full plate armor to do a middle finger of the squishy spellcaster trope (in dungeon & dragons, which is a great influence on me thanks to Baldur's Gate, cleric can wear plate armor). She also has a version of her claw weapon for her feets.

She is a demonic Dark Cleric, praying to a minor god of chaos, the god of Confusion, Bénophal, enemy of all psychic creatures.


Now for her backstory.
She comes from the same farmland village as the other 8 characters.
They all started their coming of age ritual : "The Call of Adventure" where they become adventurer to find their call in life.

The big day where all 8 characters start it is a sort of day for celebration, everyone gets their last goodbyes from their parents at the doors of the village. They also get their "First Treasure", a magical item given to them by their parent or tutor.

-Yeren gets a poor man's good luck charm (because his tutor, his grand-uncle don't like him). Read yeren's description for the full backstory on that item.
-Infested gets his Sword from his father
-Devil gets from her parents, a Crystal Ball which the team use as the Map function.
-Golem gets from his father and Grandfather, either his First "Golem Ore" or his fist gets arranged so it gets exchangeable. its not settled in stone (lol) so it might change.
-Beastman gets a Wind Feather accessory, similar to the one his idol wears, from his parents. Boost Speed
-Robot gets from his parents, his Core. The very thing which enables his to swap bodies so easily and enables his Hyper Form transformation. Since this require a lot of preparation to install, he got his gift early so he would be ready on time for departure.
-Necria gets her first Necro Stone
-Doppelganger gets his "Shadow Gene", which create his default appearance.

After the Characters say their final goodbyes and exit the village, a giant Fish Lord monster fall from the sky, to act as their first boss battle. (Later in the story, you'll learn that the perpetrator is a white dragon that like fishing and simply dropped her catch).

This battle will serve as a bit of a tutorial to the player in how to manage 8 characters and back up (only battle where all 8 are at once though) and there will be a cinematic that show every character transforming into their Hyper Form.
Also, the Fish Lord is an late game monster but since it is on land, it can't use its high level water based attacks and since he fell from such height, its already wounded enough to be manageable by level 1s.

Afterward, the 8 character reunite themselves to discuss the next course of action and decide to split into two groups that would go their separate way : Team Ravager with yeren, Golem, Infested, Devil and Team Marauder with beastman, robot, Necria and doppelganger.
It is the leader of each Team that decided the team name (Yeren and Beastman)


Well, I seem to have forgotten to talk specifically about Devil.
What else can I say? She accompanies the group since the start to the end. In the story, she gets an exclusive sidequest that will strengthen her faith and her god's approval, earning her a class change to "High Priest", a element affinity change and her best spells : Chaos (duh) and Avatar Call.

Also note that although she is a demoness, she was born and raised on Der-Urkan. She went to Hell only once for her formation as priestess. So for all intent and purposes, consider that she never went to hell.

Ironic for a demon, no?

After the End of the story and everyone part ways, she goes to the Great Academy as a librarian.
However, in the epilogue, the player learn that the Great Academy had to reduce its personnel and she was among it.
She ended up building a poor man's church dedicated to her god.
Although she is glad that she is still serving her faith, she is very sad that her Call of Life ended up as a failure.

She will end up serving as a church NPC with a saddened expression in her eyes.

The spellcaster of the group, she is both the healer and a capable fighter as well. She can both cast her offensive (non-divine magic) black fire spells and as the only flier of the group, do high flying actions where she grabs the opponent with her talons and then send it in the air.
She can also do a diving spin while engulfed in black fire.

+50% Resistance to Darkness (Later 75%)
-50% Resistance to Light (Later 25%)

Immunity to the effects of Confusion and temporary stats gain when under its effect. On the other hand, Confusion only last a limited number of turn (maybe 3) to avoid making her overpowered.
Later, all her spells gain a varying chance to inflict Confusion (but not on herself, to avoid the player cheating).
